“A family-type island,…, its treasures rest in the white sand
beaches, an abundance of fish and seafood, its wide selection of water sports, and the friendly, relaxed atmosphere that carries the promise of a memorable vacation or way of life."
-Topsail Island in a Seashell
This quote from Topsail Island in a Seashell is an excellent description of how I have always known the island to be. Topsail Island may not be my hometown, but this place has always been my second home since I have been going there my entire life. I have always known the condo at Villa Capriani, at North Topsail Beach, to be the place where I spend my summers, with an occasional trip throughout the year. However, even though I have been going to Topsail Island my entire life, I never knew anything about the history of the island. Through this website, I will discuss the multiple perspectives of history, geography, economics and political. Furthermore, I will compare the past to the present of how the island was in the beginning, to how the island is today.
